CHARGERS 2016 FOOTBALL PEP RALLY

The Chargers are kicking off the 2016 Football Season with a Pep Rally! We will be introducing coaches, players, cheerleaders, and mascots!

This season’s pep rally is also serving as a fundraiser. Encounter Ministries is hosting a fish fry at the Pep Rally to benefit the Chargers program. The fish fry includes a full meal, dinnerware, and water, for a minimum love offering. We are asking families to bring one dessert each to share potluck style.

Information booths will also be available at the Pep Rally. The booths include:

  1. Ad Sales
  2. Fee Payments
  3. Fan-Wear
  4. TeamSnap Communication System
  5. Nationals Registration
  6. Game Day Volunteers
  7. Gatorade Collection

Come EARLY and visit each booth. Bring your Charger spirit! It takes many volunteers to make the Charger program run smoothly each season.

A few things to keep in mind:

1) SPORTS PHYSICALS - Each athlete, with the exception of Mascots, are required to have a current sports physical.

The Chargers have arranged for FREE sports physicals through CoxHealth. The physicals are by appointment only and must be arranged through Karen Bargas at 417-459-1503.

The necessary sports physical forms are available for download during the online registration process. Please have your portion of the forms completed when you arrive for your athlete's physical.

CoxHealth will be on site at North Point Church on Norton Road, to perform the physicals on July 25, 27-29, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The physicals are good for one year, so you won't need another one if your athletes play basketball or run track with the Chargers.

2) PAYMENTS - The Chargers hope that you will use the fundraising program to pay your team fees ($300-Varsity Football; $200-Jr High Football; $75+Uniforms-Cheer; $25+Uniforms-Mascots). This option benefits the Chargers program the most. Here's why.

When you find a sponsor who will buy add space in the Chargers Sports Annual, half of the proceeds are credited to your Chargers account, the other half goes to the Chargers general fund. The half that goes to the Chargers general fund is used to purchase equipment like football helmets and shoulder pads.

An added benefit of finding sponsors is building a credit balance for your family with the Chargers. For example, you secure $1,500 in sponsorships. You get $750 credited to your Chargers account, and the Chargers keep $750 for equipment. Your $300 varsity football team fee is deducted from your Chargers account leaving a $450 credit balance. That balance can be applied to another Charger team fee like basketball, or that credit balance can be used to reimburse you for expenses you incur on behalf of your athletes like football cleats, receiver gloves, practice shorts, or travel expenses to football games. This is a great way to pay for your travel and lodging for the NHFA Tournament in Florida in November!

You also have the option of paying the team fee online and skipping the fundraising program. However, If everyone simply paid their team fee and didn't find sponsors, the Chargers would quickly run out of general funds. It costs several hundred dollars to outfit one player with a helmet and shoulder pads. The Chargers would have to double or triple their team fees to cover equipment. This would make the Chargers unaffordable for most families.

Fundraising info is available on TeamSnap once you have registered. 1) Log into your team site on TeamSnap; 2) Click on the "Media" tab in the top-middle of the team site; 3) Select the "Files" button on the upper-right side of the team site.
