Baseball

ELIGIBILITY:

The Chargers are an athletic organization for homeschoolers. Each athlete's education must be PARENT DIRECTED and at least 51% of the athlete's course work must be provided at home. Additionally, athletes must:

  • live with their parent/legal guardian
  • not have participated in any form of a high school graduation ceremony

If you are new to homeschooling or transferring to the Chargers for any reason, you must meet with the Chargers Baseball Director before practicing with your respective team.

SPORTS PHYSICAL:  

Each player is required to pass a Sports Physical prior to the first practice and file a copy with the Chargers. If the athlete has one on file with the Chargers, it cannot be older than July 1, of the previous year.

AGE GROUPS (on June 30 of the current year):

Junior Varsity / 17U - 17 or younger

Freshman / 15U - 15 or younger

Jr High / 14U - 14 or younger

FEES:

$450 - Team Fee for 15U & 17U Teams

$200 - Team Fee for 14U Team

Team fees can be raised through paid sponsorships. Sponsors receive ad space in the Chargers All Sports Annual. A Homerun Derby will be scheduled in April as a fundraising opportunity.

SCHEDULE:

15U & 17U - 20-26 games plus 2 tournaments for both teams beginning last week in May and ending mid-July.

14U - 14 games beginning late May and ending mid-July.

PLAYING TIME:

The Chargers do not guarantee equal playing time. All teams are considered competitive and playing time is merited based on ability, attitude, game, and practice performance. All playing time is awarded at the discretion of the coaches. Double-header games will allow for players, who did not play in the first game, to play in the second.

UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT:

Players will be issued 2 Jerseys and 1 Hat.

Cleats (black, gray, white, or team colors), navy blue socks, solid white baseball pants, navy blue belt, and baseball glove are the responsibility of each player.

Player provided bats must be a Bbcore-3.

Families are required to reimburse the Chargers for replacing lost equipment and uniforms while it is in the player's care, and for uniforms ruined by improper laundering.

INSURANCE:

The Chargers carry general liability insurance. Medical insurance is NOT provided.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT:

The Chargers are a volunteer organization. Your help is needed. The Chargers are always in need of people who will: Coach, Assistant Coach, Keep Stats, Video Games, Coordinate Fundraisers, Coordinate year-end parties, and banquets, etc.

COMMUNICATION:

The Chargers communicate exclusively through TeamSnap, website, and social media. Check your email regularly. If you don’t, you will miss something.
