CHARGERS FOOTBALL

2016-2017 BASKETBALL INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY:

The Chargers are an athletic organization for homeschoolers. Your child’s education must be parent directed and at least 51% of your child’s course work must be provided at home. Specialized requirements apply to upperclassman with dual-enrollment courses and for transferring players. If your player(s) are new to homeschooling, or transferring to the Chargers for any reason, they must meet with the Chargers Basketball Director before practicing with their respective team.

AGE GROUPS (Age on September 1, 2016):

12U Boys – 10-12

14U Boys – 13-14

14U/16U Girls – 13-14 & 15-16

18U Boys – 15-18

The Chargers will consider players playing up if their skill level is comparable and there is room on the roster.

COST:

$250 – 12U Team Fee

$300 – 14U Team Fee 

$350 – 16U Team Fee

$400 – 18U Team Fee

$100 discount off of the most expensive fee for each player beyond 2 from the same family.

Team fees can be raised through paid sponsorships. Sponsors receive ad space in the Chargers All Sports Annual.

Free-throw-A-Thon has been scheduled for Thursday, December 1st at FBC Springfield.

NUMBER OF GAMES:

Numbers are approximate:  12U – 20; 14U – 25; 18U – 30

PRACTICES (October 31 – March 10):

12U Boys – TUE & THUR – 5:30-7 p.m. at FBC Springfield

14U Boys – MON – 5:30-7 p.m. FBC Springfield; TUE – 7-9 a.m. Seminole; THR – 7-9 p.m. FBC Springfield

14U/16U Girls – MON & TUE – 7-9 p.m. FBC Springfield; THR – 7-9 a.m. Seminole

18U Boys – MON-WED-FRI – 6:30-8:30 a.m. Seminole

 

PLAYING TIME:

The Chargers do not guarantee equal playing time. 14U & older teams are considered competitive and playing time is merited based on ability, attitude, game & practice performance. All playing time is awarded at the discretion of the coach(s).

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT:

The Chargers are a volunteer organization.  Your help is needed.  The Chargers are always in need of people who will:  Coach, Assistant Coach, Run Game Clock, Keep Stats, Video Games, Coordinate Fundraisers, Coordinate concessions & gate at games, Coordinate year-end parties, and banquets, etc.

UNIFORMS:

12U players will be issued a reversible jersey, 1 pair of shorts, and 1 t-shirt.

14U & 18U players will be issued home & away uniforms, a warm-up top, and a practice uniform.

Families are required to reimburse the Chargers for replacing lost or damaged pieces while the uniform is checked out to the player.

Any shirts worn under jerseys must be plain and match the color of their jersey (game officials will enforce this rule).

Shoes, socks and gym bags are the responsibility of each player. The Chargers ask that shoe and sock colors be kept to team colors (Navy Blue, Orange, & White).

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL:

December 16-17 (1 Night) – Tulsa – 14U Boys & Varsity Boys

February 10-11 (1 Night) – St Louis – Everyone except Varsity Boys

March 2-4 (1-2 Nights) – Little Rock – Everyone except 12U Boys

A parent/legal guardian must accompany players while the team is traveling, unless acceptable arrangements have been made in advance.

INSURANCE:

The Chargers carry general liability insurance. Medical Insurance is not provided.

COMMUNICATION:

The Chargers communicate exclusively through TeamSnap, website, and social media.  Check your email regularly.  If you don’t, you will miss something.
